An exciting and challenging opportunity has become available for a Junior Rolling Stock Engineer to join our National Plant Team based in Seven Hills, NSW. This is a rolling stock entry level position where little previous knowledge of rolling stock is expected but an interest in rolling stock, plant and equipment is essential. To be successful will require self motivation, a willingness to learn, on the job training, developing an understanding of safety and technical requirements, developing an understanding of governance and risks impacting the performance of various rolling stock within different rail systems.  This role will suit motivated self-starters looking to establish a career in rail with cross-discipline exposure.  Candidates with less than 2 years post graduate experience are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities of the role include:
- Assist with requests for rolling stock inspections and co-ordinate rolling-stock assessments.
- Assess rolling stock, plant and equipment compliance to John Holland minimum standards and prepare reports.
- Assist with supplier audits and qualification.
- Develop technical maintenance plans & schedules.
- Provide subject matter expert support to rail projects.
- Assist in maintaining rail accreditation.
- Develop specifications and undertake minor design; monitor and recommend changes to design details to increase productivity and/or safety of rail plant and rolling stock.
To be successful in this key role, you must have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automotive or Aerospace).
- An interest in all aspects of rolling stock, plant and equipment.
– Relevant work experience demonstrating capacity to effectively contribute to team objectives within a corporate framework.
- Basic cost control skills.
- Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls and actions.
- Skill in use of document and record management, progress and performance reporting compliance and procedures.
