About the Project

John Holland, CPB Contractors and Ghella  has commenced design and construction work for the Sydney Metro West – Eastern Tunnelling Package.

With a contract worth $1.63 billion, the Eastern Tunnelling Package includes construction of 3.5-kilometre tunnels under Sydney Harbour between The Bays and the Sydney CBD, and the excavation of Pyrmont and Hunter Street stations. Starting at The Bays, tunnel boring machines will cross the harbour near the Anzac Bridge, before heading to the new Pyrmont station and then under Darling Harbour before reaching Hunter Street in the heart of the CBD.

This is the final piece in the puzzle to deliver the city-shaping Sydney Metro West project.

Once completed, Sydney Metro West will double rail capacity between greater Parramatta and the Sydney CBD, with travel times of around 20 minutes between the two centres.

About the role

• Fixed Term Contract for 3 - 6 months (full time task specified contract)
• Gather available information from the broader Project Team and jointly prepare the monthly progress claim
• Manage Deed requirements for plant, wages and reimbursable rates on a monthly basis 
• Assist client financial auditors in relation to progress claim submissions
• Ensure cash flow forecasts are updated in a proper routine
• Manage the balance sheet and jointly prepare management reporting for month end (including PFR)
• Interest management pertaining to JV Loans and document submission
• Ad hoc financial reporting duties

Required skills and qualifications

• Accounting / Finance degree
• Preferred CA or CPA qualified in Finance, Accounting, Business administration, Business Management (or studying)
• 5+ years’ experience with financial and/or management accounting activities (general accounting, financial analysis and reports) within construction industry

• Computer proficiency in relevant software, i.e. accounting software with proficient Excel skills and preferred with experience for John Holland Accounting System (PCR)
