John Holland is looking for an experienced Power Systems & Electrical Manager to join our Rail Infrastructure Services (RIS) team covering the East Coast. The role can be based out of either our Spotswood (Vic) or Seven Hills (NSW) site offices.

We’re looking for an entrepreneurial leader to drive the business to new heights using your expert knowledge and ability to create new opportunities and deliver on them for John Holland predominantly within the rail industry.

 

Key responsibilities:

-Manage the overall delivery on or ahead of schedule with all stakeholder expectations met
-Provide and take leadership responsibility in health, safety and environment management
-Build strong internal and external stakeholder management through positive, pro-active and professional communication to keep key people informed 
-Advise on industrial relations issues and implications and develop appropriate resolution
-Manage administrative duties for direct and indirect report requirements 
-Ensure compliance in commercial and financial management including meeting budgets and identifying cost saving measures, accurate forecasting of both costs and revenue, take corrective action in line with authority and reporting   frameworks and maximise the profit margin for the project
-Ensure adequate resource balance and capability to deliver larger John Holland projects as well as delivering for RIS East Coast projects
-Demonstrate leadership in risk management, compliance, and auditing, and ensure legislative, pre-contract and commercial obligations are met, including compliance with the relevant Building Code
-Ensure that stakeholders are actively engaged and that beneficial relationships between the project and the client, subcontractors, community, and other external parties are developed and maintained
-Monitor staff and labour resourcing to ensure the project has the capability to achieve targets, supervise workforce, including subcontractors, and foster a high-performance team within a positive employee relations environment
-Contribute to new business, continuous improvement, and broader business activities
-Seek and maintain relationship a client based for the RIS East Coast business 
-Identify and report on current and future external industry developments and trends which will affect the Business Groups work prospects
-Further develop relationships with existing clients throughout the East Coast region and increase the existing client base via successfully securing and delivering new project opportunities
-Actively contribute to the strategic and operational development, growth and profitability of the Business Unit and the broader John Holland
-Lead and motivate the project team in order to meet or exceed all project targets and objectives
-Provide leadership that encourages team enthusiasm and innovation
-Provide technical advice during tender and delivery phase 
-Monitor and maintain performance over the lifecycle of the projects
 

Qualifications: 

Trade Qualification or similar (Degree, Diploma, Engineering, Building, Construction and/or Project Management)

 
Experience:   

-Minimum 10+ years previous rail experience in a similar role
-Experience in industry relevant trade and construction operations of similar scale
-People and performance management of subcontractors, suppliers and direct labour 
-Skill in review of design documentation, ability to understand drawings, provide constructability review and implement final design plans
-Safety and environment management, resource management and construction program and methodology

 

Typical:

-Supervision of projects in excess of $100M 
-Understand productivity factors and utilisation planning
-Experience in pre-contracts and tendering
