About the project
Are you ready to play a key role in delivering one of Sydney’s most transformative infrastructure projects? Sydney Metro West is a 24 kilometre underground railway connecting the Sydney and Parramatta CBDs, with stations at Westmead, Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock, The Bays Precinct, Pyrmont, and Hunter Street in the Sydney CBD.
The Linewide project is the backbone of the Sydney Metro West, seamlessly connecting all its elements and delivering the critical rail infrastructure and systems needed for metro train operations.This will include:
- Delivery of 16 key buildings such as the Stabling and Maintenance Facility, Operations Control Centre and the Rosehill Service Facility
- Precincts and public domain works at both facilities
- Permanent way infrastructure throughout the stabling yard and tunnels
- Corridor systems including HV & LV electrical, 25kV traction power, earthing & bonding, communications and control systems
- Tunnel ventilation, fire detection, suppression and maintenance walkways
- Drainage and hydraulic systems
- Acoustic control measures
- Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) rating v2.1 and Green Star Buildings v1
- Critical State Significant Infrastructure Project
Project Locations
Project and site offices are located in Sydney CBD, Clyde, Rosehill, The Bays, and Burwood North, providing a variety of working environments across the project footprint.
Are you up for the challenge?
As Project Controls Manager you will establish and manage the processes for Project Earned Value & Risk Management monitoring and reporting to provide timely and accurate information to enable project delivery on time and on budget in accordance with John Holland procedures over the full project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, implement and manage project control reporting processes and procedures, including associated audit / review activities, encompassing financial month end close and accruals, cost recording and reporting including cost to date and forecast cost to complete and quantity complete and earned value recording and reporting for the project.
- Ensure the EVM activities are appropriately linked to the P6 programme.
- Interface with project teams for management, data / information collection and completion of the project / cost control functions in accordance with established procedures
- Supervise staff undertaking project and cost control activities, exercising functional control over all onsite staff with responsibilities in this area.
- Provide training and guidance to subordinates and colleagues in the use of project control systems and information requirements, project monitoring & controls and the interpretation of the data and information generated.
- Hold regular reviews with scope and risk owners to identify new financial risks, assign reasonable probability and impact values and articulate/update management and mitigation actions.
- Participate in period-end cost forecast meetings and incorporate relevant information into the ongoing calculation of the financial risk exposure.
- Assist project and delivery managers in report interpretation, project performance analysis, forward planning and development of corrective actions to maximise project delivery outcomes.
What we are looking for
- Tertiary degree, preferably in one of the following disciplines - Engineering, Construction, Building, Project Management or Accounting, or equivalent experience
- Proven relevant experience in Construction, Engineering, Commercial Project / Cost Control and Earned Value analysis.
- Multi-disciplined Commercial Project/Cost Control experience ideally for Major Projects
- Leadership and management of Commercial Project/Cost Control teams.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in relevant software packages such as Microsoft Suite (including Excel) and Project / Cost Control and Earned Value systems
