About the project


Sydney Metro West is a transformational 24 km underground railway connecting Sydney CBD to Parramatta, with stations at Westmead, Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock, The Bays, Pyrmont and Hunter Street.

 

The Linewide package connects the entire system, delivering the critical rail infrastructure and technology that bring the metro network to life.

 

Project offices are located across several Sydney locations including the CBD, Clyde, Rosehill, The Bays and Burwood North.

Key responsibilities

 

  • Development of strategies for successful delivery of the project, ensuring that the Tunnel work is financially viable, margin expectations achievable and risk complies with JH guidelines.
  • Responsible for all Track and Civil Elements in the tunnel – including 12,500m3 of invert concrete and 52,000m3 of track slab
  • Understanding and knowledge in track construction to successfully install 21 turnouts and 4 diamonds in track slab
  • Manage resources to deliver the projects within budget, time and HSQE standards, reviewing progress against delivery milestones and take effective remedial action as required
  • Set cost benchmarking report requirements at project set up and maintain a record of performance against cost benchmarks
  • Test and verify field production progress against budget quantities and budget cost and develop the forecasting of final cost for each cost code assigned as a responsibility, based on known scope, accurate quantities and realistic production rates and capture any chance of claims and variation orders
  • Report all contingencies within individual cost codes, allocating amounts into a PM or CM cost code to drive realistic and achievable forecasts
  • Resolve all subcontract variations or claims and comment on validity and/or strategy to resolve
  • Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure constructive relationships and assist in the co-ordination of the subcontract supervision and correct administration of progress payments and variations

About you

 

  • A significant amount of project management experience ­specific to Rail & Civil 
  • Management of multidisciplinary projects and project teams ­
  • Contemporary practices in design and construction methodology ­
  • Contractual, legal, commercial, industrial relations and legislative compliance management ­
  • Advanced financial and commercial management including cost reduction and meeting budgets ­
  • People and performance management including the performance of subcontractors ­
  • Quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment ­
  • Analysis of and reporting on project performance, compliance and defects and/or non-conformance
