The Project:
Sydney Metro West is a transformational 24 km underground railway connecting Sydney CBD to Parramatta, with stations at Westmead, Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock, The Bays, Pyrmont and Hunter Street.
The Linewide package connects the entire system, delivering the critical rail infrastructure and technology that bring the metro network to life.
Project offices are located across several Sydney locations including the CBD, Clyde, Rosehill, The Bays and Burwood North.
The Role:
We are seeking experienced Senior Contracts Administrators to join our Clyde Site project team to be a part of a large and dynamic, skills focused commercial team.
Key Responsibilities:
The main responsibility of this role is to plan and manage the end-to-end commercial management of large subcontracts and self-performed works.This includes both direct and indirect management.
The Senior Contracts Administrator will be expected to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders, as well as direct reports, to deliver project commercial outcomes.
- You will effectively manage high value and complex subcontract packages allocated to you through all phases, including procurement, scope preparation, tender pack review, tender analysis, subcontractor selection and contract negotiations. Subcontractor management, claims/variations, review and processing, notice writing and contract completion. Cost forecasting and accrual preperation to assist the Commercial Manager with accurate EOM reporting.
- You will be expected to participate in scope of works planning with the engineering team, ensuring that scope gaps are minimised, cost efficiencies are maximised and subcontractor capabilities are considered
- As part of the role you will participate in procurement strategies, including breakdown into individual works packages, identification of potential subcontractors, procurement, methods, timing and comprehensive tender analysis on the returned tenders.
- As a Senior Contracts Administrator you will provide management and leadership to other commercial and construction roles particularly with more junior members of the commercial team.
- You will maintain contact and good working relationships with our local subcontractors and a maintain good awareness of market conditions and movements
- You will be required to assess commercial and contractual risks, identify and implement appropriate controls and escalate actual or potential issues to Commercial Manager and or Project Manager
- You will be expected to operate and maintain commercial and contract systems and ensure compliance with Building Code at all times and report any potential non-compliances
- The role requires preparing reporting on commercial performance periodically and on an ad hoc basis as required.
To Be Successful:
- Post graduate qualifications e.g. graduate certificate, graduate diploma in Quantity Surveying, Commerce, Accounting, Business,
Construction, Property, Law or other associated disciplines. - Proven experience as a hands on Senior Contracts Administrator or Quantity Surveyor in the construction and engineering industry.
- Demonstrated experience in all stages of subcontract management, including scope preparation, procurement, cost forecasting, subcontractor management, claims/variations management, completion and close out.
- Experience with a variety of project values and complexity, including large, technically complex works packages.
- Strong commercial acumen and awareness in areas of cost management and contract law.
- Knowledge and understanding of industry market conditions and movements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage commercial negotiations.
Awareness and compliance with document control and records management procedures.
