About the Project


John Holland has recently been awarded the Illabo to Stockinbingal section of Inland Rail in NSW. The Illabo to Stockinbingal section is about 39km of new rail corridor located within the local government areas of Junee and Cootamundra-Gundagai. It will provide a direct route from east of Illabo, tracking north to Stockinbingal and connecting into the existing Forbes rail line.


Illabo to Stockinbingal is a DIDO Project, accommodation is provided on the 2:1 (2 weeks on / 1 week off) roster. 
 

About The Role

 

As a Senior Project Engineer – Structures, for this project you will be accountable for:

 

 

  • Providing expert knowledge in structural engineering and guiding the design, analysis, and construction of structural elements.
  • Reviewing and approving structural designs, ensuring they comply with relevant codes, standards, and project specifications. May also involve coordination with design consultants and architects.
  • Developing project plans, schedules, and methodologies for the structural phases of construction projects. Overseeing the execution of these plans to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Ensuring that all structural work is performed to the highest quality standards, meets industry regulations, and adheres to safety protocols.
  • Managing the allocation of resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, to optimize efficiency and productivity in the construction of structures.
  • Identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks related to structural engineering and construction.
  • Assisting with budget development and cost management for structural aspects of projects, including forecasting and tracking expenditures.
  • Managing contracts related to structural work, including tendering, negotiation, and oversight of subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, ensuring that their requirements are met and that they are satisfied with the structural work.
  • Preparing and presenting detailed reports on project status, progress, challenges, and outcomes related to structural engineering activities.
  • Ensuring compliance with building codes, environmental regulations, and occupational health and safety standards.

 

To be successful in this key role, you must have:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering
  • High level verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven experience in successfully delivering large work packages
  • Proven experience in managing engineers on large-scale civil construction or structural projects
  • Experience in delivering Australian civil projects
  • Ability to effectively manage budgets, systems and stakeholders to achieve an exceptional outcome
  • Excellent attitude and awareness of Safety
  • Self-motivation and drive to achieve value-for-money results
