About the Project

The Stations Alliance North team, comprising John Holland, Arup, and KBR are excited to be delivering the transformative Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East WP-F package. The Alliance will build world-class underground stations at Glen Waverley, Burwood and Box Hill.

The new stations will be fully accessible, light-filled spaces with retail and dining options – and will feature elements inspired by the history of the local community and First Nations peoples – with each station to have a Green Star rating of at least 5 stars.

The SRL will have safe, easy and accessible connections to existing Metro stations, as well as new and upgraded bus and tram interchanges, walking and cycling paths and bike parking.

These new SRL stations will support the delivery of more homes – within walking distance of jobs, health services, universities and quality open space.

SRL is a transport and urban planning project that will deliver world-class public transport, reduce travel times, and support the delivery of more homes and housing.

About the Role;

Join our Box Hill Station team as a Senior Traffic Engineer, leading the planning, coordination and delivery of traffic management solutions for one of Victoria’s major transport infrastructure projects. You will work closely with construction, stakeholder and operational teams to ensure safe, efficient and compliant traffic outcomes throughout all project phases.

Responsible for design and implementation of Traffic Management Plans in order to provide suitable and safe areas for project works to occur, both long-term and short-term arrangements in accordance with relevant Standards and Regulations.

What you will do;

•    Lead the development, review and implementation of Traffic Management Plans (TMPs), Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGSs) and transport impact assessments to support project delivery.
•    Ensure performance is tracked and monitored against relevant KPI’s/KRA’s.
•    Coordinate traffic engineering activities across construction stages, ensuring minimal disruption to road users, public transport services, pedestrians and local businesses.
•    Possess a high level of personal organisation and accountability.
•    Liaise with key stakeholders including Department of Transport and Planning (DTP), local councils, emergency services, public transport operators and project partners to obtain approvals and manage traffic impacts.
•    Provide technical advice and leadership to project teams on traffic engineering, road safety and access management requirements.
•    Monitor and assess traffic conditions throughout construction, identifying risks and implementing mitigation measures to maintain network performance and safety.
•    Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, permits and project requirements relating to traffic management and road occupancy.
•    Support the planning and delivery of major traffic switches, road closures, shutdowns and construction staging activities.
•    Prepare and review management plans, technical reports, designs, methodologies and permit applications to support project approvals and delivery.
•    Investigate incidents, complaints and emerging traffic issues, implementing corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
•    Manage costs within an allocated budget.
•    Attend site as required during Implementations (day or night as required).
•    Undertake regular site walks and audits to ensure Traffic Management compliance. 
•    Manage the procurement of Road Safety Audits at the required stages of TMP development. 
•    Contribute to project planning, risk management and reporting processes to ensure traffic outcomes are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project objectives.
•    Mentor and support junior engineers and traffic management personnel, fostering technical excellence and best-practice outcomes.
•    Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support successful project delivery and community engagement.
•    Operate productively within a team environment.
•    Complete works within time and budget constraints. 
•    Contribute to process efficiencies and innovations. 
•    Primarily attend work during Site hours and occasionally out of hours as required for major events at the discretion of the Traffic Manager. 

What we are looking for;

Qualifications    

Bachelor or Civil Engineering or equivalent 
        

Experience

    
•    Demonstrated major projects traffic experience on site 
•    Working knowledge of AS 1742.3 and WSTM Code of Practice 
•    Stakeholder management & Conflict management 
•    Relationship management
•    Good verbal and written communication skills 
•    Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines. 
•    Competent in Microsoft Excel and Word  
•    Experience in Traffic Management 
•    Knowledge of safety-based requirements 
•    Familiarity with the road safety audit process  
•    Negotiation and influencing
