The Project

The consortium of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has been selected to build South Australia's biggest-ever road infrastructure project. In partnership with the South Australian Government, this consortium forms the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance.

The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, will deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, forming a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway, and contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.

The T2D Project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km, open to traffic in 2031.  The T2D project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The T2D Alliance is committed to providing opportunities for local people, Aboriginal workers, apprentices, trainees and job seekers who are long-term unemployed and offers people an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project.

The Role

We are seeking several experienced Precast Shift Managers to join our team and lead the safe, efficient and high-quality operation of our precast manufacturing facilities in the Northern Suburbs of Adelaide.

Our precast facilities will play a critical role in the delivery of the T2D Project, manufacturing major precast components including road deck elements and tunnel segments.

This is a leadership position responsible for managing shift production, people, quality, safety, industrial relations and plant performance. You will work closely with production, engineering, quality, safety, maintenance and project teams to ensure manufacturing targets are achieved safely, efficiently and to the required project standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead shift operations across the precast manufacturing facility, ensuring production activities are safely and efficiently planned, coordinated and delivered.
• Manage production performance, including shift targets, output, productivity, downtime and availability reporting.
• Oversee manufacturing processes for road deck elements and tunnel segments, ensuring production activities are organised and controlled in accordance with approved processes and schedules.
• Lead safety and workplace compliance, promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring all shift activities comply with project, legislative and site requirements.
• Manage Quality Control (QC) across the shift, working closely with quality teams to ensure precast products meet design, specification and project requirements.
• Act as the primary Industrial Relations interface for the shift, managing workforce matters and working with HR and project leadership to maintain effective employee relations.
• Lead and develop the workforce, including supervisors and production personnel, ensuring the right skills, resources and capability are available to meet production requirements.
• Manage plant and equipment performance, working with maintenance and operational teams to minimise downtime and maintain production continuity.
• Identify and resolve operational issues, including production delays, quality issues, workforce constraints, equipment failures and process inefficiencies.
• Drive continuous improvement, using production data, workforce feedback and operational experience to improve safety, quality, productivity and overall manufacturing performance.

About You

You will be an experienced manufacturing leader with a strong background in large-scale precast manufacturing, concrete production or heavy industrial operations. You will bring a practical, hands-on leadership style and the ability to manage people and production in a demanding project environment.

• Significant experience within precast manufacturing facilities, with experience producing tunnel segments, road decks or other large-scale precast infrastructure products highly regarded.
• Proven experience leading large manufacturing or production teams, preferably across multiple shifts within a high-volume environment.
• Strong knowledge of precast manufacturing processes, production planning, process control and operational performance.
• Demonstrated experience managing Industrial Relations, workforce issues and employee relations, with HR/people management skills essential.
• Strong understanding of Quality Control and manufacturing compliance, with the ability to maintain high production and quality standards.
• Strong knowledge of heavy plant and equipment used within precast or industrial manufacturing environments.
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across production, engineering, quality, safety, maintenance and project teams.
• Willingness to work a rotating Day / Night 7/4 – 7/4 roster.
