About the project

John Holland is GoldlinQ's nominated design and construction contractor for GCLR3, to extend the existing light rail network by 6.7kms from Broadbeach to Burleigh Heads, including eight new light rail stations, two new light rail-bus connections, and intersection upgrades along the alignment.

About the role

You will be responsible for preparing, issuing, and following up on proposals, requisitions, purchase orders and other required documentation for the procurement of goods and services to enable the successful delivery of the Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3 project (GCLR3).

Responsibilities of the role include

  • Consult with the Delivery Team on its business needs including the supply of goods required
  • Be familiar with the nature of the goods and co-ordinate with the Delivery Team
  • Coordinate the allocation of cost coding on the Purchase Requisition for the goods with the Delivery Team
  • Monitor the approval of Purchase Requisitions
  • Communicate with the Delivery Team and liaise with suppliers to obtain quotations for the supply of goods
  • Compare and critically analyse pricing quotations for the supply of goods and propose the preferred supplier
  • Negotiate and agree terms and conditions with the supplier of goods including all necessary flow down from the Head Contract
  • Set up suppliers in Vendors Online, prepare and issue manual purchase orders in PCR
  • Notify preferred suppliers to proceed to purchase
  • As required by the Commercial Manager coordinate with the Senior material Co-ordinator to track the receipt of goods from the supplier
  • Co-ordinate with the Delivery Team to ensure the supplier is effectively performing its obligations under the Purchase Order and inform the Commercial Manager accordingly  
  • Co-ordinate with the Delivery Team variations to the Purchase Order (if any) and issue any variation instruction to the Supplier
  • Resolve minor disputes with suppliers of goods in a timely manner
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Gold Coast Light Rail Sustainability and wellbeing policies, processes, systems and procedures including our Corporate Sustainability Framework
  • Assist the Delivery Team to expedite goods where required
  • Perform the role of the asset administration
  • Build and maintain close relationships with the Delivery Team to expedite timely day to day supply of goods 

To be successful in this role, you will have

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, procurement, contract management or a relevant field
  • Administrative/governance practices and procedures of procurement
  • Record management, documentation and probity
  • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy skills
  • 5+ years’ experience in either project-based engineering, contract administration or procurement function, a portion of which in civil construction
  • Analytical and strong organisational skills and demonstrated procurement and contract management practices to enable optimal and cost-effective solutions
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
