About Inland Rail
Inland Rail is transforming how goods are moved around Australia, connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. This 1,700km fast freight backbone will complete our national freight network – better connecting producers to markets and creating new opportunities for regional businesses, industries and communities.
 
The Illabo to Stockinbingal project is about 39km of new rail corridor located within the local government areas of Junee and Cootamundra-Gundagai. This new section of rail corridor will provide a direct route from east of Illabo, tracking north to Stockinbingal and connecting into the existing Forbes rail line.

 

We currently have a Senior Contracts Administrator position available on our I2S Project.  We are looking for someone who possesses a strong commercial acumen and has project based experience.

 

The role will be a 2:1 Roster based on site in Cootamundra and surrounds.

 

Your key tasks will include (but not limited to):

-Conduct initial investigations with subcontractors to clarify the organisation’s conditions relating to contracts for prospective projects
-Manage and drive the review process to ensure the award of all subcontractors within the required time frame and budget
-Maintain a register of subcontractors
-Minimise all subcontractor variation claims and elimination of claims where possible
-Operate and maintain commercial and contract systems including Project Costs Reporting (PCR), Project Pack Web (PPW), MARS, Workday, Commercial Pack database and Contract Sum
-Ensure cost forecasting for allocated subcontracts and cost codes are accurately maintained and keep project management teams abreast of any costs issues immediately upon identification
-Interpret specifications and drawings so as to understand scope of works for the project at Head Contract and Sub Contract scope level
-Participate in identification and quantification of Head Contracts
-Manage subcontractors to ensure that Code compliance is maintained at all times
-Preparation of variation, claims or letters for Head Contract management for allocated Project or projects
-Prepare Forecast sheets for projects and assist Project team with Cost Review and reporting
-Monthly Progress claim reviews and submissions
-Assess commercial and contractual risks involved in delivery and implementation of projects and identify and implement controls
-Check compliance and prepare reporting on commercial performance of the contract
-Process and recommend progress claims for work completed and refer disputed claims by subcontractors to the relevant manager for decision
-Any other adhoc duties assigned by Commercial Manager

To be successful in this role, you will have the following:

-It is desirable to have a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Economics, Quantity Surveying, Law, Commerce or equivalent
-Previous experience in a Senior Contracts Administrator role within the Construction or Engineering industry
-Intermediate to advanced proficiency in relevant software packages such as Microsoft Suite (including Excel) and exposure to a contract management system (CRM)
-Experience with a variety of project values and complexity
-Understanding of document control experience in accordance with records management procedures
-Interpret and apply relevant legislation/code on the project to prevent potential business exposure
-Experience in negotiating with sub-contractors

-Be open to working a 2:1 roster (2 weeks on / 1 week off)
-Or, willing to relocate yourself within an hour’s commute of Cootamundra/Stockinbingal.
