Title:  National Logistics Manager

About The Role

John Holland is seeking a National Logistics Manager to establish and lead a consistent, enterprise-wide logistics capability across our projects. This newly created national role will improve how logistics is planned, mobilised and delivered, supporting stronger productivity, cost performance and safety outcomes. 

Reporting to the Group Manager Lift & Shift (John Holland Construction Engineering), you will integrate logistics with procurement, plant management and project delivery to enable the efficient movement, storage and tracking of materials and assets. You will work across major and smaller projects, supporting teams from tender and mobilisation through to deliveryand will establish a framework to enable good practice on smaller projects. 

Location of the role can be based in VIC, NSW or QLD head offices and travel to projects interstate will be as required.

What you will do:

Develop and own John Holland's national logistics strategy, framework, systems, processes and capability standards. 

Establish a consistent 'John Holland way' of delivering logistics across projects of different sizes and complexity. 

Define fit-for-purpose logistics structures, roles, responsibilities and strategies for major, mid-sized and smaller projects. 

Embed end-to-end processes for materials, plant and assets, deliveries, warehousing, heavy vehicles and site logistics. 

Integrate logistics planning from tender and pre-contract phases through mobilisation and project delivery. 

Support key tenders by defining and pricing logistics requirements and developing constructable, cost-effective solutions. 

Implement and standardise logistics systems and governance across Procurement, Commercial, Plant Management and Scheduling. 

Improve cost, productivity, utilisation, material tracking and site efficiency across projects. 

Ensure logistics practices comply with WHS requirements, HVNL, Chain of Responsibility, CLOCS-A, relevant standards and client requirements. 

Build and lead a national cohort of logistics professionals, uplift internal capability and share lessons learned and best practice. 

What we are looking for:

A bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, logistics or a related discipline. 

Typically 10+ years of progressive, hands-on experience across transport, warehousing, manufacturing, construction, mining or other complex logistics environments. 

Demonstrated experience leading measurable operational improvement programs across cost, productivity, inventory, logistics efficiency or asset utilisation. 

Success leading large teams, multi-site operations and cross-functional stakeholders, including influencing through indirect reporting lines. 

Strong commercial acumen, including budget management, cost optimisation, contract negotiations and an understanding of contracts and insurance relevant to logistics management. 

Experience implementing systems, standardised processes and new technology to solve complex operational challenges. 

Experience delivering logistics outcomes in large-scale operational or project environments with blue-collar workforce engagement. 

Strong knowledge of supply chain and materials management, plant and asset management, and logistics systems and digital tools. 

Lead, Continuous Improvement or Six Sigma qualifications are desirable, and CILT Australia membership is highly regarded.
