About the Project

 

The Linewide Alliance, comprising John Holland, Alstom, RATP Dev, KBR and WSP, are excited to be delivering the transformative Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East Linewide package.

 

When SRL opens, the new rail services for passengers will also be delivered by, a venture between RATP Dev and John Holland to operate and maintain the franchise for 15 years from 2035, to be known as TransitLinx.

 

The Alliance will deliver a world-class, service-proven driverless metro system that sets new benchmarks for comfort, safety, and reliability for Melbourne.

 

SRL is a transport and urban planning project that will deliver world-class public transport, reduce travel times, and support the delivery of more homes and housing.

 

About the Role

 

Accountable for the delivery of communications and operational technology systems including:

Wireless Telecommunications
Fixed Telecommunications
Public Communications
Security Access and Monitoring


The role leads delivery across complex, interface-heavy environments, ensuring seamless integration of tunnel, station, and train communication systems, and driving successful operational readiness and service entry.

What you will do;

 

End-to-End Delivery – Communications Systems

 

Own delivery of WTN, FTN, Operational Controls systems and communications scope, including:

Radio systems (e.g. DAS / in-tunnel coverage/station interfaces)
Transmission and fibre networks
CCTV and security systems
Access control systems
Operational control and monitoring systems
Ensure systems are delivered from design integration through to commissioning and handover


Lead integration across:

Tunnel systems (DAS, fibre, emergency systems)
Station systems (CCTV, PA, customer systems, security)
Train interfaces (e.g. onboard connectivity, CCTV feeds)
Resolve complex cross-package and multi-vendor interface risks
Lead integration risk and dependency management across communications systems
Implement and drive defect and issue resolution frameworks
Maintain alignment to program schedule, cost, and performance targets
Lead multidisciplinary delivery teams
Drive alignment across civil, rail systems and operations teams

 

Ensure all communications systems meet:

Rail safety and assurance requirements
Operational performance standards
Cyber security and critical infrastructure requirements
Support readiness for assurance reviews, trials, and regulatory approvals
 

What we are looking for;

 

 

Experience

  • Extensive experience delivering communications and systems integration within:
    • Rail tunnels and underground stations (highly desirable)
    • Major infrastructure or transport programs
  • Proven delivery of complex, interface-heavy systems environments
  • Experience leading large teams (20+ personnel) and multi-contractor environments

 

Technical Capability (Critical for this role)

Strong knowledge of:

  • Tunnel communications systems (e.g. DAS, fibre backbone networks)
  • Station systems (CCTV, access control, operational systems)
  • Integration across OT, telecoms, and control systems
  • Testing & commissioning in live or high-risk operational environments
  • Multi-vendor integration
  • Complex system interfaces across tunnels, stations, and rolling stock
  • Proven ability to:
    • Drive delivery outcomes under pressure
    • Align diverse stakeholders across packages
    • Translate technical complexity into program-level decisions

 

Qualifications (Desirable)

  • Engineering, Telecommunications, or related discipline
  • Certifications such as:
    • Networking (e.g. CCNA)
    • ITIL / SAFe
    • Rail Industry Worker (RIW), construction safety accreditation
